Guys, you know how difficult it can be to shop for the girl in your life. So difficult, in fact, that many of you actually dread having to do it. This only leads to worse things as you save the shopping to the very last minute and pick up the first thing that looks remotely OK.

1. A Holiday

While giving a holiday as a gift may push your budget limits, just imagine the look on your partner’s face when you hand her plane tickets to an exotic island or exciting major tourist attraction. A holiday is a great gift because most people like a break, and you’ll even be able to enjoy the gift too.

Even if you can only afford a plane tickets in time for the occasion, you can give that as the gift and plan the rest as the trip gets closer. If you really can’t afford anything lavish, don’t panic, give her a romantic weekend getaway trip. It’ll cost you much less but be just as wonderful and exciting for you both.

2. Clothing

Now here’s a tricky one, but something most women love. My first piece of advice is to always speak to her friends first. They will be able to point you in the right direction, and, not only that, the fact you approached her nearest and dearest will only make your gift even better. Don’t always go for what she wears and likes, make sure you like to too.

In the weeks running up to your gift-giving occasion, take notice of how she usually likes to dress and the general kinds of clothes she likes to wear to give you some inspiration. Does she always dress up for work, or go casual? Is her casual style sporty or classic? Does she like fitted clothes in solid colors or flowing fabrics in vibrant prints? Stick to what you know she likes, and opt for something you know she wouldn’t buy herself.

3. A Home Spa Day

Giving the woman in your life a gift certificate to a spa so she can relax and pamper herself for a day is a great idea, but it’s a little too traditional and cliche for my liking. Instead, consider buying her everything she needs to be able to spend a whole day in the comfort of her own home to pamper herself instead – or even offer to be her masseuse for the day to make things even more interesting.

You might want to buy special aromatherapy bath salts and candles so she can relax in the tub, face masks for glowing skin, special body washes so she feels soft and smooth and even massage oils to top it all off. With the massage oils, make sure she understands that you’ll be the one doing the massaging (if she’s your girlfriend or wife, of course – if it’s your mom or sister, coordinate with her man to make sure he knows that he is expected to do this for her). Give her a kit to smooth out and paint her own finger and toe nails, too. She’ll love having a day where she’s the queen of the house!

Nice Makeup

Most women wear makeup to impress all of you guys out there, so why not invest some of your hard-earned cash into helping her look pretty, feel great about herself and impress you, all at the same time? Don’t just go to the pharmacy store and pick up the stuff that’s on the shelves – go to a trusted makeup dealer, like Sephora, for example, and get her some of the more expensive makeup that she wouldn’t normally buy.

Bare Minerals is a great line of makeup that’s good for her skin and looks very natural, so even women who don’t usually like to wear makeup enjoy wearing it. There are other lines just like it, so do some shopping around. Look for makeup that offers skin benefits other than simply “covering up” her already beautiful face. Make Her Something

Arts and crafts time for the woman in your life doesn’t mean whipping out the scissors, construction paper and colored pencils – go for something a little bit more mature, even though you’re still making it by hand. What are you good at? Are you handy with tools and wood? Build her something she’ll love. Better with home improvements? Renovate that room she’s been wanting you to do. Not so crafty at all? How about a simple hand-made piece of jewelry?

All of these projects are relatively easy to accomplish depending on your background and your skills. Think of how you can use what you’re good at to make something that she will love. Homemade gifts are perfect for every woman (mom, sister, girlfriend, wife alike) because she will see the time and effort that you’ve put into the project and it will end up being something she cherishes forever because of your thought and effort.
