Legally Blonde Musical – Oh My God You Guys!

Oh my God you guys! If you haven’t yet, you simply MUST go and see the new Legally Blonde Musical – it is totally fabulous!

I have to say, as a complete Elle Woods fan (and a fellow ‘Woods’ myself), I was kinda worried to hear that the Delta Nu sister was hitting London’s West End, but after watching the performance, my anxiety has simply floated away.

The musical stays very true to the film version, with a few adaptations in order for it to work well on stage. Sheridan Smith portrays the sorority sweetheart, Elle Woods, fantastically in a bright, animated and humorous way. As for co-star Duncan James who plays Warner Hunnington, he’s simply gorgeous and definitely smooth enough for the part (don’t tell Mike, but I definitely have plans to marry him some day!).

I think one of the best parts, despite the bright colours, hilarious script and catchy songs was the very fact Elle’s Bruiser and Paulette’s Rufus were real dogs! They were perfectly trained and had the whole audience physically melting in their seats. I even let out a little squeak of joy every time one of the dogs took to the stage.

The audience was full, old, young, gay straight – it didn’t matter because everyone there thoroughly enjoyed themselves. There was cheering, screaming, dancing and singing throughout the whole show…it was an experience.

I don’t want to give too much away incase you go and see it. I know some of our US readers have probably seen it before on Broadway but for those who haven’t, it’s certainly worth a trip to London! Speaking of which, Mike hasn’t seen it yet so perhaps I’ll book for his Birthday…that way I’ll have a good excuse to go again!
