Guide To New Years Resolutions
Every year we make promises to ourselves that we know we simply can’t keep – but this year should be different. New Years Resolutions are useful when chosen carefully. Forget giving up chocolate, or sex, or men in general in fact - and certainly dispel any thoughts about making more of an effort with the in laws, or regularly visiting the gym, because lets face it – it ain’t gonna happen!
Keep Them Simple
Don’t go mad on your resolution details – keep them totally simple. If you want to make more time from your friends this year then do so, just don’t get too hung up on the details of where and how often because if you can’t achieve it – you’re likely to give it up altogether. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself and remember – you’re only human.
Make Them Achievable
This probably one of the most important points so listen up. If you want to lose weight, be realistic. Don’t kid yourself in to believing you can lose more weight than physically possible – you aren’t Barbie, you’re never going to be Barbie so get over it. Disappointing yourself by expecting too much will just deflate your enthusiasm for you resolutions and leave you feeling disappointed. Small achieable goals are far better than large unobtainable ones.
Tell Your Friends
Tell your friends what your resolutions are – that way they’ll be able to support you. If you plan to give up smoking or drinking, telling your friends this will make them more likely to avoid putting you in a situation where you may be tempted. Keeping your resolutions in the closet will only make you more likely to cheat and you’ll only be cheating yourself.
Reward Yourself
Having a reward to work towards will make you more likely to stick to your new years resolutions. Buy yourself a fabulous dress in the size you want to squeeze into and keep trying it on until it fits. Or perhaps get your boyfriend to offer you an incentive if you manage to stick to your resolutions for a set amount of time…a weekend away perhaps? The trick is to have something to work towards – it’ll make the pain worthwhile in the end…
