Getting Through The Week

how-to-get-through-the-week-at-workExercise In The Morning

I know this isn’t going to be the most appealing suggestion I’ve ever made on ReallyRich.com but exercising in the morning has its serious benefits. As we all know, exercise releases endorphins and what better time to have these handy little hormones racing around your body then when you’re bloody grumpy because you’ve got a day of work ahead of you.  A morning workout will free up your evenings and keep you energised throughout the day – worth the sacrifice I think.

Relax Before Work

I’m totally guilty of this but leaving the house after you’ve got ready for work is one of the worst things you can do. You’ll feel rushed, harassed and annoyed about one thing or another – whether it’s the traffic on the road or the bad hair day you’re having. Wake up 30 minutes earlier than you currently do and give yourself some time before you head off to work. Watch an episode of your favourite TV show, read the paper or listen to music. Start the day nicely by having some time to yourself – you’ll feel worlds better for it.

Make Weekend Plans

Having something to look forward to will help make your week whirl by. Make Monday mornings your diary day and don’t leave the office until your weekend’s fully booked!

Go Out For Lunch

Instead of working through your lunch break or eating alone – go out for lunch with a few colleagues. It’ll get you out of the office and provide you with a decent meal which will certainly limit those desperate visits to the vending machine in the afternoon. Not only that, it’ll give you a chance to meet with your colleagues outside work…an all round winner in my opinion.

Hump Day Treat

We all need a little pick-me-up mid week, which is why in addition to weekend plans, you should make a hump date in your diary. Meet up with the besties or go out for a meal with your boyfriend…just give yourself a little reward for getting through half the week.

Make A Tradition

A friend of mine has a Friday night tradition with her fiancé called ‘Fish & Chip’ night. I used to find this quite amusing but as it happens, I think it’s actually a really good idea. Set up a tradition with your partner or girlfriends so you have a little extra something to look forward to during your working week. It doesn’t matter what it is – just make sure you stick to it!
