Simon Cowell Produces Haiti Single

Astra WestPrime Minister Gordon Brown has asked Simon Cowell to produce a charity single in aid of the Haiti earthquake.

So far, Cowell has signed up Rod Stewart, Leona Lewis, JLS and Michael Buble  for his charity single in aid of the Haiti victims.

The artists are set to record a cover of REM’s 1993 hit ‘Everybody Hurts’ next week and the song will be released by Sony later in January.

The X Factor winner Joe McElderry, along with N-Dubz, Will Young, Robbie Williams, Coldplay, Take That, George Michael and Sir Paul McCartney are also said to be in talks to lend their vocals to the track.

Simon Cowell has said: “I’d like to make this record with as many different types of singer as we can.”

“And I hope everyone in the industry comes together to get involved. The response has been fantastic.”

All proceeds will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee and The Sun’s Helping Haiti campaign.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who asked Simon to organise the single, will waive the VAT and REM are not taking royalties from the sales.

I think it’s really nice how everyone is uniting to aid this worthy cause. Although I’m not a fan of REM or ‘Everybody Hurts’ I’ll certainly be buying the record anyway.
