Expensive Wonderland Breaks Record!
So this morning the BBC reports that Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland took over 8.3 million in its opening weekend, breaking the 6.7m box office record set by Avatar. In fact, including its 2D takings, Wonderland made just over 10.5m!
Well No S**t Sherlock!
It’s no surprise the film broke the bank, when film goers had to fork out over £10 for a ticket, an extortionate price, drastically more expensive than any other film showing at the moment!
In fact, to see the film in its opening weekend at Westfield Shopping Centre’s biggest screen (it’s huge) the average family had to bankrupt themselves finding just over £17 per person! Add on some sweets, drinks and lunch out before the film and that’s a week’s wages! (Ok so it’s not, but you know what I mean…)
Now I’m a lover of cinema, but the price of tickets alone made me decide to wait until DVD to watch this.
Rich on the other hand dug deep in his wallet for a ticket and you can read his review of Alice In Wonderland HERE.
The only good thing about the prices for this film is the fact the annoying rowdy kids that usual sit right behind me probably either can’t afford to go see it, or they can’t afford the popcorn to throw after they’ve spent their entire months pocket money on a seat.
‘Family loving’ Disney should be ashamed of themselves at these prices…
