The Perfect Xmas Party Dress
Christmas parties can be a brilliant chance to get dolled up, let your hair down and really have a good time, but get the dress wrong and it could end up ruining your evening. So let’s get serious for a second and explore what makes those perfect Xmas party dresses so perfect.
Colour
My top tip is don’t copy the gift wrapping. At Christmas steer clear of green or red – it’s tacky. The whole party will be decorated with these colours you don’t want to match. Instead pick a dress that doesn’t clash, such as black, cream, light pink, purple or brown – yellow and blue are no nos. If you want to Xmas it up an bit you can always accessorise with red or green shades.
Cut
Xmas is a family season so let’s not get the puppies out. Pick a dress that cuts your shape and flatters your curves- out at the bust, in at the waist, out at the hips, while not being too short – let’s not forget it’s also the season for bloody cold weather! Decency is the key here.
Detail
A little bit of tinsel around your wrist or in your hair is a nice touch, but lining the dress with the sparkles is not classy. Trust me, subtly is the key as no one will be laughing WITH you… Instead keep the dress as sexy as possible using minimal detail. Dress it up with some sparkling earrings or Christmassy nail polish.
Zips buttons and Clips
And finally, on a practical note, party dresses need to be secure as you don’t want them falling off you when you bend over or get down on the dance floor. Plus if some guy wants to get creative with his fingers and start undoing zips and buttons you need to make sure that’s not the only zip and button between you and your modesty!
Bear these practical ideas in mind when shopping this Christmas and you’re bound to stun at all your parties. Now that’s made me feel all Christmassy, I’m going out to buy a red fluffy Christmas jumper – for Rich! He’ll love it! : )
