Swimwear That Suits Your Body

Swimwear That Suits Your Body

As we reach mid-summer you’re probably giving a lot of thought to your body and how you can look your best on the beach or by the pool. I’m almost certain it won’t have passed your attention that the high street is full of colourful swimwear, but how do you decide what shape is best for you?

Consider This…
  • Are you actually going to be swimming or are you simply sunbathing and looking fabulous?
  • Are water sports your thing? If so, you may need something practical as well as stylish.
  • If you’re holidaying with the kids you may have to do a lot of running around the pool, so invest in some colourful kaftans and sexy sarongs.
  • Don’t forget that accessories can really bring your swimwear to life – think bangles, anklets and necklaces.
Pear-Shaped

If you’re pear-shaped don’t be afraid to show more, not less of your hips and legs. Although banded pants give you extra coverage and flexibility, making legs longer and leaner and giving definition to the waistline, tie side pants can often give you a more streamlined shape and take the focus away from the hip area. Also try a darker coloured pant with brighter top to flatter the figure – a reversible bikini may give you all the options you need.

Petite

If you’re petite a halter bikini with underwire, fixed or removable padding or underbust band could be what you’re looking for to enhance your shape. boyleg pants can also be particularly flattering. Try swimwear with strong patterns or detail and contrasting colours.

Athletic

If you have an athletic build a tankini or bikini with boyleg or drawstring pants are surprisingly flattering for narrow hips, as the extra fabric and styling will give your hips more width while complementing your build.

Busty

If you have a big bust strong patterns and twisted halter tops blend extra coverage naturally into styling. Soft ties at the back and neck are essential to ensure precise fit and comfortable ties.

Hour-Glass

If you’re curvy or plus-size go for a one-piece or tankini with a deep V-neck to show off your cleavage and emphasise body length. Some swimwear provides built-in tummy control panels, swim skirts or dresses give extra leg coverage – great hip hiders!
