Now I know it’s branded a ‘Gay Short Film’ but who can refuse a hot guy in white underwear? Not me. It’s the first of its kind in the UK to use online fans to get produced – social media followers from around the world interacted with costume decisions, narrative choices and even watched Adam being shot live via Ustream.. I mean, how cool is that?

The film depicts a futuristic advert for a customisable robot and uses the mechanical metaphor to say we should never seek to control, suppress or silence a person, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. We are not robots.

“I wanted to shoot something engaging, with a universal message about self-acceptance and homophobia,” said filmmaker Mike Buonaiuto. “New’s reports of homophobic abuse and the devastating effects it has on families are becoming ever too common. I hope the film will inspire young people struggling with accepting their sexuality due to bullying or fear to find confidence within themselves. We are not machines, we are human and we cannot be controlled, suppressed or silenced.”

I’m absolutely loving Vedova – a new short film by Mike Buonaiuto (ex writer of ReallyRich.com) – he’s such an amazingly talented film maker…

Vedova tells the story of a scorned widow, hell-bent on revenge for being left alone in the land of the living. It’s a great short and the lead character just looks fabulous – check it out below. I can’t believe it was all filmed on a HDSLR camera (you know the one’s that usually just take photos!)

The closest I can liken Lauren to, and she may shoot me for saying this, is Joss Stone. She has a soulful, and not traditionally feminine voice. Lauren very much sounds beyond her years and my guess is her appeal would reach across age, sex and cultural divisions.

Lauren moved to Los Angeles at 16, where she lived with Lisa-Marie Presley and tried to make it as a singer in a reggae band. Synopsis

The Best

Where the hell do I start? There was so much good to Eat Pray Love and simply not enough space on this page! The movie was moving, inspiring, enlightening, healing, enriching and entertaining – all the ‘ings’ you could possibly wish for in a film. It’s semi-epic length and beautiful cinematography really made you feel part of Liz’s (Julia Roberts) journey. The Director, Ryan Murphy, managed to magnificently capture the essence of each city, enough to give you a real feel for what the country is like. With a real whirlwind of emotions throughout the film – you come out feeling exhausted despite spending approximately 2 hours sitting on a chair.  Exhausted in a good way, as though you’ve been on a journey to replenish the soul and succeeded. A word of warning though, this is definitely not a film I would say the average straight guy would enjoy so save yourself the huffing and puffing and watch it with the girls…

The Worst

I am a firm believer that movies and books should not be compared in any way, shape or form. After all, they are entirely different. Needless to say I despise the phrase “The movie wasn’t as good as the book” – c’mon people – that’s like comparing chalk to cheese! Having said that, there were quite a few things in the book that were either missed out entirely or adapted to suit a cinematic equivalent. One particular change springs to mind and that’s that the sexy Giovanni (Luca Argentero) is meant to have an identical twin, Dario – which I was totally looking forward to seeing on screen! Having gotten over the disappointment of not seeing two irresistible identical Italian twins, the worst of the film was pretty much over.

The Verdict

Eat Pray Love is an inspirational piece of cinematic beauty that briefly allows your imagination to enter the realm of reality. I must confess  however that Eat Pray Love should carry a warning as it’s so easy to reevaluate your life, only to focus on everything that’s wrong. Which, in turn, allows you to be seduced into embarking on a similar , romanticised, yet awe-inspiring journey.

Eat Pray Love hits the UK screens on September 24th 2010 – don’t miss it!

In Clinique’s own words, “The Clinique Airbrush Concealer is a light reflecting makeup must-have. Not only does it hide shadows but it also illuminates and perfects your complexion and eye area” and I can certainly vouch that it does exactly that.

The Clinique Airbrush Concealer is a liquid based concealer and comes in three delicate shades: 01 Fair, 02 Medium and 04 Neutral Fair. As I am a redhead, I have been using the 01 Fair shade during the review and have found it to blend beautifully with my naturally pale skin tone. Having said that, as with all concealers, I would recommend applying a layer of foundation over the top of where you’ve used the concealer in order to fully blend and cover any blemishes that may be on your face. In order to apply concealer to the brush, you simply twist the end and I recommend doing so until you hear the Airbrush click one or two times.

I have to admit, as most of the concealers I’ve used in the past have been in a stick or bottle  format, using the Airbrush took a little getting used to at first! Having said that, I think I now prefer the Airbrush style as it’s much easier to apply the product economically, not to mention it’s a lot more hygienic for your skin.

All in all I’m extremely impressed with the Clinique Airbrush Concealer and I’d certainly recommend it to anyone. If you’re thinking about changing your regular concealer I recommend you give the Airbrush a go!

To celebrate passing my degree, Mike took me to Argyll Street in London to watch Sister Act The Musical and Lord, was it Nun hell of a show!

Patina Miller (playing Deloris Van Cartier) gives a truly inspiring performance. From the moment she takes to the stage her voice is both powerful and enchanting – wholly captivating the attention and adoration of the audience. Patina perfectly portrays the humorous character of Deloris Van Cartier as gloriously as Whoopi Goldberg did in the film version. I left the theatre feeling uplifted and confident…what I’m trying to say is as a white guy, Patina makes me wish I were born a black gal!

The next thing I was most impressed by were the set changes. I know it’s a bit of a weird thing to mention in a review but the set changes were truly spellbinding. I was amazed at the transitions from one place to the next, taking the audience from clubs and hotel rooms, to the hallowed halls of the Convent – I’ve never seen transitions between set changes quite as well executed.

In terms of the music, ‘Here Within These Walls’ and ‘Fabulous, Baby!’ (check them out on YouTube) were my favourite songs of the night. Here Within These Walls is a beautiful song s performed by the Mother Superior (played by Sheila Hancock). It tells the story of the convent and how it’s separated from the rest of the world, making it a sanctuary from sin…Fabulous, Baby! is an amazingly uplifting song that simply makes you want to sing along.

Unfortunately I have to say I didn’t rate Simon Webb’s performance as Shank…I thought his acting made the portrayal of the character too pantomime. Having said that, his voice was strong and he delivered his songs in the show with great accuracy but something just wasn’t there for me.

All in all I highly rate the show and it’s talented cast. If you want to see a truly uplifting and easy-watching show in London’s West End then Sister Act is one performance not to be missed!
