Contrary to popular belief about Gay Best Friends, I’m terrible at buying gifts. I’m just like any other man in that I leave everything to the last minute. This is stupid and expensive. You see, if you plan way in advance of an upcoming birthday, you can take the time to source just the right gift, and have the added luxury of more time to hunt for a good price. Not only that, time allows you to make gifts that can often mean so much more. OK, making gifts does sound naff, but if one of my best girlfriends bought me a pair of jeans or made me a scrap book with all our photos in it – I know which I’d choose (no, not the jeans.)

Having said that, I have a demanding boyfriend, and an even more demanding group of best friends which means a lot of scrap books and a lot of time to make them. Luckily, we have the Internet at our fingertips. We’ve all heard of Groupon, right?! Well I was searching the Groupon site for deals in London and found some amazing local spa deals for the girls and I to go to – killing at least 4 Birthday stones with one search… How neat is that?

The moral? Either give yourself enough time, or rely on handy websites that offer great deals because no one likes to be the friend who gives crap Birthday presents, do they?!

Christmas in my household is a big deal. There’s real holly on the tops of mirrors and canvases, a black artificial tree with red and silver baubles and beads to match the lounge and a real mini pine tree with silver and purple baubles in the kitchen. I really do love Christmas.

Maybe she’s your best friend, girlfriend or even your boss, but she has enough trinkets to fill a small office block. Her bag is bursting with lip gloss and notebooks, her shoe cupboard is overflowing…

When Christmas rolls around, a trip to the local girlie store for a couple of earrings or bottle of spray just won’t cut the mustard. She needs something more.

Don’t stress; here are just a few things you can give the girl who’s got everything:

Book a night or two of cheap spa breaks for your girl to detox at a refreshing getaway spa. They offer pampering manicures, massages and facials.

Inscribe a mug, champagne bottle, notebook or calendar with a personal message, and give her a gift that’s more personal than your run-of-the-mill ornament. Engraving a bracelet, elegant pen or set of wine glasses is a creative way to personalise this sort of ornamental gift.

Does she enjoy the outdoors? Book a wine tour, river cruise, a couple of surfing lessons or a hot air balloon ride. Is she prefers a warm, comfy couch, why not reserve a slot for the two of you at your favourite salon? Don’t forget the bottle of champagne!

She might be fussy but she’s not impossible to buy for, particularly if you put a bit of thought and planning into it.

So I was in the cinema waiting for ‘Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark’ to start (which by the way isn’t that great so don’t rush to see it), when this absolutely, well-and-truly, beautiful advert came on…

Immediately I was drawn in. I don’t know if it was the enchanting song, stunning animation or what, but my gosh did it catch my attention. It turns out it was a Twinings tea advert. The slogan ‘Gets You Back To You’ just struck a chord with me and it’s so true, when I make a cup of tea it’s so I can just take 5 minutes out from what I am doing, relax, and find me again.

More importantly in some ways I guess is the soundtrack, a cover of The Calling’s ‘Wherever You Will Go’ by Charlene Soraia. I’m pretty sure Charlene was one of these unknown ‘YouTube Singers’ – like Conor Maynard was before he became well-known! It’s a stunning track with vocals to match.

So you may have already noticed that Mike’s been a busy boy recently making his latest short film ‘Pulchrum’ – and it’s finally here and ready to watch!

We all know that every little girl wants to be a Princess (and some boys too) which is the theme of the the film (the little girls wanting to be Princesses, not boys!)

Pulchrum was entirely produced in London, England and was wirrten and directed by Mike Buonaiuto. The short film explores the world of a child’s fantasy against the stark relaity of adult life – something we all struggle to face sometimes.

Pulchrum has already been nominated for short film awards online so watch this space! You can view Mike’s Vimeo Channel or follow him on Twitter.

For those interested in the techie side of things, Pulchrum was shot entirely on Canon DSLR cameras giving the film a fresh, original and beautiful feel. Check it out!!

Wanted to let you in on a secret today – you may have noticed Mike’s been a little quiet on the ReallyRich.com posts – well I can now reveal it may all be due to him filming his first ever short film – currently still in production and set for release this Spring. Excited!

It’s been fun watching him source Furbies and Polly Pockets for props these last few months.

She is a TV cook, who eats nothing but meat, butter and desserts.

So forget “join a gym and eat more celery”. This Christmas, it’s food  and booze all the way. And the only exercise you need is dancing!
