The 7 Sins Of Beauty

The 7 Sins Of Beauty

We’re all human and can therefore be forgiven for our beauty sins if we repent and right our beauty wrongs. However, some of us are continual beauty offenders and are making a habit of living a sinful existence so check out the top 7 beauty sins and tell us how many are you guilty of?

1.Biting Your Nails

I totally can’t stand this and it makes me positively wince just watching someone bite their nails. Not only is this beauty sin horrendous for your nails, it will also wreck havoc with your teeth in the long term too. You’re essentially grinding down your teeth on your nails and making them prone to tooth chipping if you’re a regular nail-biter. Kick the habit now, it’s not sexy or endearing and I don’t even need to mention what you can catch from underneath your nails…

2. Dyeing Your Hair

Casually dyeing your hair and maintaining your roots is fine, periodically testing every shade in the hair colour range is not. Your hair is a delicate extension of your body and continually bleaching or colouring it will make it dry and weak…concocting your very own hair removal formula – and who wants that? Try and stick to a colour you are happy with and that suits your skin tone. Ensure you condition your hair regularly and for extra fabulous results, apply conditioner to dry hair and leave to soak in for as long as possible before rinsing.

3.  Going To Bed Without Washing Your Face

Even I am guilty of this sometimes no matter how gross it is. The skin on your face is extremely delicate and one of the only parts of your body which is exposed to the air and nasties during the day. This particularly applies to those of us who live and/or work in the city because all the pollution and grime that just sits in your pores. Make sure you always wash your face before going to bed to keep your skin looking clean and radiant. Make sure you remove all your make-up too!

4. Sun Beds

Ultraviolet-Aging rays (UVA – the kind emitted from sun bed bulbs) are called aging rays for a reason — they penetrate your connective tissue, causing premature aging and the proliferation of free radicals. Not only that, UVA rays have been linked to skin cancer and can suppress your immune system, so it’s either the natural look or a spray tan if you want to look young and beautiful forever. If you aren’t too bothered about the future and don’t mind having skin like a fake Italian handbag then sunbed away my dears…

5. Hair Heat

Hair dryers, curling tongs, straighteners – they’re all guilty of damaging our hair through high temperatures; leaving it frizzy and unmanageable. Try turning down your hair dryer to a medium to low heat and apply protector serum to your hair before using curling tongs or straighteners – your hair will thank you, trust me.

6. Purging Spots

This is another one I’m personally guilty of. According to experts, we are not meant to squeeze our spots or pimples and are much better off leaving them to heal on their own. I don’t know about you but I don’t think there’s anything worth than a ‘full’ pimple. Having said that, squeezing them damages our skin and often leaves light scarring – therefore reducing our chances of an even skin tone. Moral of the story…think twice before squeezing!

7. Not Exfoliating

This is a huge beauty sin which many woman fail to realise. If you wear make-up, particularly foundation and you don’t exfoliate then listen up. Your body sheds thousands and thousands of dead skin cells every day which is what dust in our houses is made up of, gross, right?! Simply washing your face isn’t enough to rid the surface of your skin of these cells, so we need to make sure we are exfoliating regularly – I recommend every other day. In doing so, our skin is a lot smoother and ensures that when we apply our make-up we don’t get any nasty ‘clumping’ or highlighted dead skin areas – giving us a positively flawless complexion.
