Speed Dating Dilemma

speed-dating-for-beginners

Rich,

I recently went speed dating and although apprehensive at first, I really enjoyed it! You got 4 minutes with each person and you rotated with different guys. There was a policeman there who I instantly liked and I was the only date he ticked as well. We ended up talking at the bar afterwards and we had a drink and a kiss. We text each other after and he took me out at the weekend. It was amazing – he was a gentleman, opening the car door for me and holding my hand as we walked down the street. Afterwards he came back with me and we had a bit of a snog on the sofa (and that’s all it was, promise!) He said he would invite me around for a meal and said he would call me. I can’t stop thinking about him and I really wanted him to call last night but he hasn’t, what do I do?

Help, relationship Guru. Help.

Dear Rachel,

Well done for giving speed dating a go – so many women are terrified of doing it but it sounds like it really worked for you! First thing to remember is don’t panic! When we panic we’re liking to do irrational things that we wouldn’t usually do link double text and that could totally ruin your chances with this guy at such an early stage. Step back and remember this is not the only guy in the world for you, you’re not desperate and you have better things to be thinking about than him. Once you have convinced yourself of these things you’ll be in a better position to play the age-old game of hard to get…

As a general rule of thumb, if you haven’t heard from a guy three of four days after the date – feel free to send him a little well-meaning, light-hearted message and see if he reacts. If he doesn’t, then it’s his turn to come to you and if he doesn’t, well then he’s just no longer interested so you’re going to have to deal with it…tough love I’m afraid!

Good luck Rachel and if this one doesn’t work out…then keep up with the speed dating!

With Love,

Rich x
